Since arriving on the scene in 2000, Nyaka Chana has captured and intrigued the performing arts community with incredible work. Nyaka Chana gathers inspiration from personal narratives, the environment, and cultures around the world. Each performance embodies a life experience, which has led her to work with leading artists and clients around the world.
Early Life
Caroline Tambu Nyaka-Chana Known by Stage Name of (Nyaka Chana) is a Quintuple Threat born on 17 May 1982 in Avondale Harare, Zimbabwe to a Zambian Father (David Zocha Nyaka) and Zimbabwean Mother (Joyce Patricia Chananda). She is the middle child in a family of 3 girls with Big Sister Eunice Nyaka and Younger sister Cindy Tse'tse' Nyaka. Caroline lived in Zimbabwe for 18 years then migrated to Europe 20 years ago and settled in Ireland - County Antrim which is now her second home away from home. Work brings her to England often hence has what she calls scattered caves across United Kingdom, she spends time in the Cotswold playing polo in the summer season. A sport she jokes about on TV that she got into by accident speaking to Animals.
Music and Arts
Usually known by her stage name Nyaka Chana which is an alter ego of an African Character; Caroline had her very own Show originally filmed at the World Famous Pinewood Studios home to Star Wars and James Bond movies. Caroline rose to fame when she joined Charley Anderson of famous Band The Selector in 2009 for their 30th Anniversary, the Original 2 Tone and Ska Band opted Caroline in as replacement for Pauline Black who could not join the Original Boys Neol Davis, Gaps, Charley Aitch and Charley Anderson, for this commemoration. In this role, Caroline then sailed on to world recognition.
Theatre and Stage
After moving to France in 2010 having been cast by Walt Disney just to be in the Parade, Caroline excelled and ended up joining the principal Disney Characters and becoming the First Black African to play Princess Tiana in the Princess and the Frog. Her debut in Theatre was seen way back in 2006 when she joined the Cast of Half a Sixpence at Solihull Arts Complex by Peterbrook players in a humble role of a Chorus girl. According to Caroline She learnt so much from this production and went on to play leading Roles in various theatre productions her biggest role being Dame Shirley Bassey where she belted the Big Number "Goldfinger" at the Old Rep Theatre Birmingham to a mesmerized and jaw dropping teary audience who gave her a standing Ovation on Opening night.
